About Kuya Dan

Kuya Dan

I am Dan de Castro — husband, father, lolo, broadcaster, and long-time Filipino‑Canadian community advocate. For over 30 years, I’ve dedicated my work to amplifying Filipino voices, building meaningful community connections, and creating spaces where culture and belonging thrive.

My Story

Through radio, events, and storytelling, I’ve had the privilege of walking alongside kababayans as they build new lives in Canada. This digital home is a place to reflect, remember, and reconnect with the stories that shape us — from the first winter in Canada to the first time we hear OPM on Canadian airwaves.

Community Work

Over the years, I’ve helped organize and support Filipino‑Canadian initiatives — cultural celebrations, charity drives, newcomer support, caregiver outreach, and youth programs. Community work is never about one person. It’s about the many hands, hearts, and voices that lift each other up.

Media & Radio

From radio hosting to community interviews, media has always been a bridge — connecting our voices, our culture, and our experiences. Whether on-air or online, my mission is simple: amplify Filipino stories with heart, dignity, and authenticity.
